Dear John,
Our Week of Action continues today with an urgent message about the threat to the very foundation of our democracy—and what we can do about it. We can’t have reproductive freedom and women’s health without a strong, healthy democracy—where the right to vote is protected for everyone.
The fight for voting rights has never been more urgent. A decade after the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act, at least 29 states have passed 94 laws that make it harder to vote, disproportionately affecting voters of color.
That’s why NOW supporters are standing up for the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which restores and strengthens the Voting Rights Act and brings down the barriers built to silence people of color, women, Native Americans, people with disabilities and low-income people who were historically kept from easy access to the voting booth.
