Renewed Concern That Biden Admin Pushing Out Netanyahu

Jewish Chronicle: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other members of his coalition slammed Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Wednesday night after he demanded that the government commit to Palestinian control over the Gaza Strip after the war with Hamas ends. “I am not willing to exchange Hamastan for Fatahstan,” Netanyahu said in a video statement, with the latter term referring to Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas’s ruling Fatah Party. The premier reiterated that the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority “supports terrorism, teaches terrorism and funds terrorism” (Jewish Chronical). Caroline Glick: On Sunday, behind Netanyahu’s back, Gallant spoke with Blinken. Tonight, he aligned himself entirely with the administration’s policy of saving Hamas and using Oct. 7 as a means to build a Palestinian terror state. The purpose of what is happening now is to oust Netanyahu and replace him with Benny Gantz through what is called a constructive no-confidence vote which will enable Gantz to form a government and without elections (X). Michael Doran: Gallant aligns with Biden against PM Netanyahu. The White House is orchestrating the fall of the Netanyahu government. At the same time it is saving Hamas, and trying to create an international force to rule Gaza. It is in effect placing Hamas under an international umbrella (X).

RNC Research: CNN: Biden’s handlers will finally allow him to debate President Trump — and it’s set for June 27. The Biden campaign is making “very specific” demands, including that “microphones can only be on when each candidate is expected to speak” (X).

Biden Believes He is Ahead of Trump in Polling
Axios: President Biden doesn’t believe his bad poll numbers, and neither do many of his closest advisers, according to people familiar with the matter. The dismissiveness of the poor polling is sincere, not public spin, according to Democrats who have spoken privately with the president and his team. That bedrock belief has informed Biden’s largely steady-as-she-goes campaign — even as many Democrats outside the White House are agitating for the campaign to change direction, given that Biden is polling well behind where he was four years ago. The public polling simply doesn’t reflect the president’s support, they say. In public and private, Biden has been telling anyone who will listen that he’s gaining ground — and is probably up — on Donald Trump in their rematch from 2020 (Axios). Logan Dobson: It’s not like it’s unclear where the race stands right now. It’s just that a lot of people have trouble admitting it (X). Townhall: Biden shrugs off his apparent predicament at his own peril. His former supporters are abandoning him for concrete and understandable reasons. If he’s in denial about all of this, and he’s wrong, he’s blithely shuffling toward defeat (Townhall).

Jewish Students File Lawsuit Against Haverford College for School Allowing, Encouraging Antisemitism on Campus
National Review: A group of Jewish students filed a lawsuit against Haverford College on Tuesday, alleging that the university has allowed and, in fact, promoted the existence of a hostile environment toward Jews on its campus and, in doing so, has breached its contract with students through failing to enforce its own policies. Lori Marcus, legal director of the nonprofit organization the Deborah Project, which is representing the students in the lawsuit said the difference between this suit and similar litigation against colleges and universities is that Haverford’s administration has not simply permitted a culture of antisemitism on campus but has in some cases actively participated in antisemitic behavior (National Review).

Governor Newsom Throws Billions of Additional Tax Dollars to Homelessness Stating California is a Model for the Country
Guardian: The California governor, Gavin Newsom, announced on Tuesday that $3.3bn would be made available from the state’s new mental health bond ahead of schedule to build more behavioral health treatment centers and homeless housing as the state grapples with a growing homelessness crisis. It is the first pot of money from a ballot measure designed to help cities, counties, tribes and developers build or renovate treatment centers and clinics, among other things. Voters passed it by a razor-thin margin in March after Newsom threw all of his political weight behind it, touting it as linchpin of the state’s efforts to reduce homelessness. It authorizes the state to borrow nearly $6.4bn to build 4,350 housing units and require counties to spend two-thirds of the money from a tax on millionaires on housing and programs for unhoused people with serious mental illnesses or substance abuse problems. Applications for the money will open in July (Guardian). Political commentator Tony: Gov. Gavin Newsom has spent over a decade and over 20 billion dollars trying to solve homelessness in California and to this day California still has the largest homeless population in the entire nation (X). Blaze: Governor Gavin Newsom says California has a “national model” to address homelessness (X).

Barge Partially Collapses Bridge in Texas After Accident
Townhall: A portion of the Pelican Island Bridge collapsed Wednesday morning after it was hit by a barge, closing the only road that connects the island to Galveston, Texas. The collision also caused an oil spill in the bay, resulting in the closure of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, which is a “huge blow to operations as significant maritime commercial traffic uses the waterway along the Texas coast,” ABC13 reports. The incident comes nearly two months after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed in Baltimore, Maryland, following a ship strike (Townhall). D.C. Requires Daycare Workers to Have College
HotAir: Washington, D.C.’s daycare market is about as tight as any place in the country. It costs $24,000/yr per child, that is, children between 0 and 4-5 years old. This year, a new regulation–one that was passed eight years ago but delayed by challenges to the law–has gone into effect that requires daycare workers to have a college degree–slashing the number of people eligible to work at daycares. The result? First, the obvious: higher costs (this was an intended result, actually) and fewer slots. And, of course, a much more indoctrinated workforce (HotAir). Reason: D.C.’s new degree requirement for day care teachers will make child care more expensive and harder to find (X).

Peru to Classify Trans Individuals as “Mentally Ill”
Daily Mail: Peru has officially classified trans people as ‘mentally ill.’ Under the decree signed by President Dina Boluarte, ‘transsexualism, dual-role transvestism, gender identity disorder in childhood, other gender identity disorders and fetishistic transvestism’ are now all recorded as mental illnesses. The move, which comes just days before the 34-year anniversary of the World Health Organization’s removal of homosexuality from the list of International Classification of Diseases (ICD), has prompted fury from rights groups (Daily Mail). New York Post: Despite the change, trans and other LGBTQ+ people will not be forced to undergo conversion therapies, the health ministry insisted in a statement issued on Friday.  LGBTQ+ activist groups across Peru, however, slammed the decision as a major step backward in the fight for their rights and safety (New York Post).
