RG’s Organizing Drive is here!
The Drive is a six-week intensive base-building and resource organizing lead up to our public launch of RG’s of our National Campaign on Housing, in partnership with the Center for Popular Democracy. As you heard on the All Member Call [[link removed]] , we have an opportunity to shift the national conversation around what should be a universal right—a right to safe, affordable, and stable housing. Housing should be permanently affordable, protected from the private market, and publicly owned or under democratic community control. As young people with access to wealth or class privilege, we have a moral call to action to stand in cross-class solidarity by funding our movements and organizing campaigns alongside working-class people. It’s one of the boldest ways for us to take action in this political moment.
I am really excited about RG launching a national campaign because I want RG to be a formidable organizing force. For RG to be a meaningful partner and real participant in making affordable community-owned housing a reality, we need to grow. We need to invest in ourselves and in building this organization to show up meaningfully as accomplices to the Center for Popular Democracy. We can’t just be here to help. We need to be active protagonists recognizing our shared stake in the world that we are trying to build. We need to be growing in a way that is sustainable, because we know that this fight is not a one-year fight. This fight is the fight of a lifetime.

ORGANIZE OUR PEOPLE
An Organizing Drive comes out of the legacy of labor unions- it's a concentrated period to recruit and welcome new members into the organization. RG is inviting 50 new young people with wealth or class privilege to join our movement as part of our goal to grow by 5% across the organization. Will you throw down with us by making calls and reaching out to your people?!
Join one of our four Organizing Drive phone banks [[link removed]] . Invite your friends, family, and colleagues to join the RG community. Check out our step-by-step Organizing Drive Toolkit [[link removed]] to identify prospective members and invite them to one of the three introductory events we have coming up in the next 6 weeks:
*
Spend Down Stories on Tuesday, May 28, 7:30 PM ET
[[link removed]]

The most common question we receive from folks new to RG is what does redistribution actually mean, and what does it look like? Current Resource Generation members and alumni will discuss their experiences with escalated redistribution. Members will talk about how they returned resources from private ownership and into community/social movement stewardship. We’ll dive into sticky issues and questions on how we can redistribute resources to extend housing as a right to others.

*
Solidarity Economy 101 on Monday, June 17, 7:30 PM ET
[[link removed]]

If this is your first time hearing of Solidarity Economy, then this event is for you. At this teach-in, you’ll learn more about Wall Street’s role in our extractive economy and the worsening housing crisis. You’ll hear concrete examples of members moving housing off the speculative market and into community control.

*
Resource Generation 101 on Monday, June 24, 7 PM ET
[[link removed]]

This is the best introduction for folks brand new to Resource Generation. You’ll learn who Resource Generation is, how we organize young people with access to wealth and class privilege, and how you fit in! You'll find a next step to support you on your journey towards a world where wealth, land and power are shared and learn about our National Housing Campaign.

TRANSFORM OURSELVES
We gotta skill up to deepen our commitment to organizing each other. Forty RG members are honing their campaign skills through a six-week intensive organizing training that is already underway. Last week marked the launch of the training with an introduction to organizing. On Thursday, June 27 [[link removed]] , you’re invited to the final session to hear from chapters and at-large members on how they’re throwing down big time on housing in their communities and to learn how to make housing justice a reality for everyone.
We encourage you to consider joining RG as a dues paying member [[link removed]] , and if you would like to get involved in your local chapter, please fill out this intake form [[link removed]] !
