I wanted you to be one of the first to know: We’ve filed the paperwork, and I’m officially running as a Democrat to represent Washington’s 6th Congressional District!

This is an emotional day. I went to preschool in Belfair. I graduated from South Kitsap High School. Alison and I got married in Seabeck and have made a life in Bremerton. It would be the honor of my life to serve the people of this community — my family, friends, and neighbors — in the other Washington.

The filing deadline has now passed. Today, we start a sprint to the finish line. And when I say “sprint,” I’m not kidding.

The primary election is on August 6. Ballots will start arriving in mailboxes on July 19. That leaves us a narrow window of time to get our message to every single voter in Washington’s 6th District.

The stakes of this election are high. We now know for certain we’ll be on the ballot with anti-abortion, anti-marriage equality, anti-vote-by-mail Republican State Senator Drew McEwen, who would be a disaster for our communities.

Look, I’ve come from behind to win before. I have an incredible campaign team, and we have a comprehensive plan. But we’re betting on you and our team of 3,000+ grassroots donors to chip in what you can so we can put that plan into action.
