Friend, there are now more than 1.4 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide, and our fight is just ramping up in some of the world's most vulnerable communities.
As UNICEF continues to spearhead a global response to COVID-19, rushing supplies to the front lines and bracing fragile health systems for outbreaks, we want to quickly update you on our progress.
Delivering lifesaving supplies. UNICEF continues to rush vital supplies, including soap and personal protective equipment, to vulnerable communities around the world. To date, we have shipped more than 4.41 million gloves, 786,450 surgical masks, 199,631 N95 respirators, 203,435 gowns and 13,128 goggles to health workers.
Spreading facts, not fear. UNICEF has launched handwashing campaigns on TV, on social media, in schools and in refugee camps. We are also working with Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and WhatsApp to tackle misinformation through viral explainer videos, textbots and information hubs.
Keeping kids learning. For children whose schools are closed during the pandemic, UNICEF is working with governments and education partners to make distance learning possible, distributing laptops and materials to teachers and disadvantaged students, and collaborating on radio and television education programs to reach children without internet access.
This fight is a marathon, not a sprint, and we need steady support for the next several months to push back against this dangerous virus. COVID-19 is rapidly spreading to the world's most vulnerable communities in places like South Sudan, Bangladesh and Syria, endangering the lives of millions of children and families. You can help by starting a monthly gift now to strengthen fragile health systems and halt the spread of disease >>
We won't stop until everyone is safe,
