John, I wish I could be writing with better news, but I wanted to tell you I have officially conceded my campaign to represent MD-06 in Congress.
While it was not the result we were hoping for, I am incredibly proud of the movement we built here. Together, we proved that a working-class candidate who grew up in foster care and had five kids before 25 can run for Congress and go toe-to-toe with wealthy self-funded candidates.
But our movement was never about just one politician, and I know the fight doesn’t end here.
→ The fight will continue in my work as a poet and community mediator to bring love and healing to our neighborhoods.
→ The fight will continue in my work as the Mayor of Hagerstown to uplift the working-class and make true transformational change.
→ And the fight will continue in every single one of my supporters who took a stand for what they believed in, whether that was with a donation or at the ballot box
Thank you for your support, and thank you for being part of the fight, John.
So grateful,
Tekesha Martinez
P.S. We still have a few last campaign debts that we need covered. Would you be willing to chip in a few more dollars to ensure my hard working team is fully paid for their efforts? Thank you >>
