John, I’m thrilled to share that I was recently named Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security.
It is often said that budgets are a reflection of our values. And here in Northern Illinois we know the importance of keeping America safe. As the lead Democrat on this powerful committee charged with funding the US Department of Homeland Security, I will continue my work on border security, immigration processing, cybersecurity, counterterrorism, disaster response, and more.
I’ve served on the Homeland Security Subcommittee since 2021, where I’ve delivered federal resources to protect families in Illinois’ 14th district. The subcommittee develops the U.S. Department of Homeland Security budget, tackling crucial issues like disaster prevention and protecting Americans from security threats.
Now, I’m honored to lead as Ranking Member, and I’m proud to be the first Black woman to hold this role in our nation’s history and the youngest current ranking member of an appropriations subcommittee.
This wouldn’t be possible without this grassroots team by my side. Throughout my tenure in Congress, you’ve cheered me on in my legislation, advocacy, and committee work, and together, we’ve made historic strides for working families.
Let’s keep delivering for our communities, John. Will you support my reelection campaign with a contribution of $10 or more so we can continue to keep families in IL-14 and across the country safe and healthy? Any donation will help as we near tomorrow’s mid-quarter deadline.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thank you for being such a key part of this team.
Warmly,
Lauren
