Dear friend, Violent conflicts are destabilizing countries and putting families in harm’s way across the globe. The situations are dire in Gaza, Haiti, and Sudan. More than five million people are now facing acute levels of hunger as armed groups have taken over Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince, committing violent attacks and stripping families of access to healthcare, food, and education. More than 2 million people are facing severe hunger in Gaza, as airstrikes are launched in Rafah. In Sudan, after a civil war started over a year ago, more than 24 million people need humanitarian assistance. Given the urgent challenges facing families in Haiti, Gaza, Sudan, and across the globe, a group of generous donors have contributed $33,000 to our Matching Gift Challenge Fund to encourage compassionate people like you to match their gifts. By contributing to our Emergency Response Matching Gift Challenge today, you can help us go TWICE as far for the communities we serve in 40+ countries around the world.
Mercy Corps flew cargo planes into Egypt then trucked over the border into Gaza to be distributed to vulnerable families. The boxes contain olive oil, canned goods, dry goods, dried fruit and other essential items.
