Demand the Occidental College Board of Trustees Reject Divestment from Israel

Pro-Hamas actors are pressuring the Occidental College Board of Trustees to divest from Israel in accordance with the antisemitic Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

After a pro-Hamas mob launched an antisemitic, disruptive encampment on Occidental's campus, the administration caved to the rioters and agreed that the Board of Trustees will vote on whether to divest from companies doing business with Israel.

The Board of Trustees must vote no on adopting BDS. It should not grant any further legitimacy to the antisemitic movement or the radical pro-Hamas campus encampment efforts that have disrupted campus life across the nation.

Proponents of the antisemitic BDS movement employ language and tactics that demonize Israel and its supporters, creating a toxic environment that fosters hate and discrimination. Jewish students and organizations are frequently targeted and subjected to harassment and intimidation simply for their connection to Israel.

Divestment from Israel is not about promoting human rights or social justice. It is a thinly veiled attempt to delegitimize the Jewish state and its right to exist. By voting to divest, the Board would be legitimizing antisemitic attitudes and emboldening those who seek to harm Jewish members of the Occidental community as well as harm the Jewish state, which is currently fighting for its very survival.

Join us in sending a clear and unequivocal message to the Occidental College Board of Trustees: Reject divestment from Israel and stand against hate. Universities should be a place where all students, regardless of their background or beliefs, feel safe and respected. The Board must ensure that the Occidental campus remains a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
