Friend,
Most politicians today seem to forget what the proper role of the state is in
a free society. They routinely make short-sighted decisions that keep pushing
our country into a more precarious economic position.
It’s as if they’ve never read a book about economics in their lives!
That’s why I’m convinced that if every member of Congress read The Law by
Frédéric Bastiat, 90% of our problems would be solved.

The Law is Frédéric Bastiat’s timeless defense of classical liberalism. With
his characteristically clear writing, Bastiat points out the flawed reasoning
in his colleagues’ arguments for overreaching government while laying out the
formula for the proper role of the state in a free society. . . There’s a
reason The Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) insists on teaching the
lessons in this book to the rising generation.
I am Lawrence Reed, President Emeritus of FEE. Our mission is to inspire,
educate, and connect future leaders with the economic, ethical, and legal
principles of a free society, including individual liberty, free-market
economics, entrepreneurship, private property, high moral character, and
limited government.
Our flagship program, FEE in the Classroom, goes into classrooms across the
country to teach young Americans how the principles discussed in The Law
benefit everyone and why they are essential to a free and prosperous society.
I believe in the power of The Law SO MUCH that I am giving a copy to any who
donates $10 or more to support FEE’s educational programs. Click here to send

One of the reasons I believe so strongly in The Law is because it takes
complex ideas and makes them easy to understand using practical examples and
wit.
FEE in the Classroom takes the same approach to economic education.
This unique program is held in brick-and-mortar and virtual classrooms across
the country and teaches young Americans the principles of free markets,
individual liberty, and limited government.
Students learn how these core principles apply to their daily lives,
communities, careers, and the state of the nation.
By educating the future representatives on the ideas of liberty and free
markets, we can transform the country. That’s why I am personally asking you to
support our efforts to get free market and pro-liberty education into more
classrooms here in the United States.

The only way we can have a more educated and capable government is if everyone
in Congress understood the basic ideas of liberty and free markets.
Unfortunately, I don’t see too many members of Congress reading books like
The Law. But that doesn’t mean we should lose hope.
FEE in the Classroom teaches important economic lessons to the next
generation so we can change the future of our country and prevent further
economic disasters from getting any worse.
After FEE in the Classroom, I bet these high school students are smarter than
most of Congress!
