Celebrate the stories of those we serve, starting May 15.

Over 2.7 million Washingtonians are at the heart of the work we do at the Health Care Authority (HCA). Every year, through free or low-cost health care, behavioral health services, and benefits for public and school employees and retirees, HCA’s programs change lives.

To celebrate those lives, we’ve created HCA Connections [ [link removed] ], where Washingtonians share their experiences with Apple Health (Medicaid), PEBB, SEBB, and behavioral health. You’ll also find articles on HCA’s health equity efforts and timely updates about client and member benefits.

HCA Connections, storytelling website (homepage)

The site has regular columns such as "Voices" (client and member stories), our "HCA Connect" blog (what we’re up to), and the "Health Equity Spotlight" (HCA’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging [DEIB] efforts). Plus newsletters, such as PEBB "For Your Benefit" and SEBB "Intercom". Articles are also arranged by topics—to make it easy for you to find the stories that interest you.

Starting May 15, and every day thereafter, help us celebrate the health successes of those we serve.

*About the Health Care Authority (HCA)*

Functioning as both the state's largest health care purchaser and its behavioral health authority, the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) is a leader in ensuring Washington residents have the opportunity to be as healthy as possible.

There are three pillars of our work: Apple Health (Medicaid); the Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB) and School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) programs; and behavioral health and recovery. Under these pillars, HCA purchases health care, including behavioral health treatment for more than 2.7 million Washington residents and provides behavioral health prevention, crisis, and recovery supports to all Washington residents.
