Dear John,
Ruth’s List is excited to announce our latest endorsements – Marisol Zenteno , running for Miami-Dade Property Appraiser, Cindy Lerner , running for the Miami-Dade County Commission in District 7, and Annette Taddeo , running for Miami-Dade County Clerk of the Court and Comptroller!
Marisol Zenteno is the 1st Vice President of the League of Women Voters of Florida and is an adjunct professor at FIU in the School of Public Policy and Administration. She serves as a State General Appraiser with the State of Florida and has previously appraised commercial properties in the private sector for over twenty years. A native of the Dominican Republic, she is the proud mother of two children. She formerly served as president of the League of Women Voters of Miami-Dade County, where she focused on increasing voter turnout in underserved communities. Marisol ran for this same office in 2020 and lost narrowly, receiving 47% of the vote.
Cindy Lerner served as Mayor of Pinecrest for 8 years from 2008 - 2016. During her tenure, she focused on issues from sustainable practices to enhancing transit options, water quality, responsible energy practices, sea level rise, and gun safety. She also served a term in the state legislature, representing then-Florida House District 119 in 2000, which included Pinecrest and South Miami-Dade. Cindy has received national recognition for her work on climate change policy and also served on the Board of the National League of Cities. Like Marisol, she ran for this same seat in 2020 and lost incredibly narrowly, by just 1%.
Former Florida State Senator Annette Taddeo is challenging the incumbent Miami-Dade Clerk, DeSantis appointee and former Republican Member of the Florida House Juan Fernandez-Barquin. In the Florida Senate, she focused on advancing critical education, healthcare, and economic development legislation. A Colombian American businesswoman with a deep commitment to ensuring equality for all by facilitating communication across diverse communities, she also founded LanguageSpeak, a language services company. If elected, Annette will be the first Hispanic person and the first woman ever elected as Miami-Dade County Clerk of the Court and Comptroller.

With women like Marisol and Cindy, who ran in 2020 and lost incredibly narrowly, and like Annette, who has already been elected by Miami-Dade voters in the recent past – dynamic women like them running countywide are how we will get out the vote and win.
Ruth’s List is so proud to be behind these three phenomenal Democratic pro-choice women running to represent key offices in Miami-Dade County. Marisol, Cindy, and Annette are the exact type of strong and experienced candidates we need to meet the moment in Florida this year and to get people excited to get out and vote, especially in battleground Miami-Dade. Will you join us in helping them win?
