May is Military Appreciation Month and we’re taking some time to connect you with our former service members who are running for office! Our outstanding servant leaders answered the call and joined the armed forces — no matter the cost to them and their families. Their courage and spirit of sacrifice are exactly what we need in our politics from school boards to Congress, so we hope you’ll take a look and consider supporting them below:

Eugene served a distinguished 25-year career in the Army, where he was a JAG officer, sat on the National Security Council, and eventually became the NSC’s Senior Ethics Official in the White House. Now Eugene has a new mission: to represent the people of Virginia’s 7th Congressional District. While families struggle to pay for gas, groceries, and housing, Eugene’s opponents fight among themselves, creating chaos and weakening our country. Not anymore.

Jared spent years in the Marine Corps where he served combat tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq in response to the September 11th attacks. After returning home, he worked for the House Democrat Office in Maine, then decided to take the next step in serving his country by running for Congress in one of the most competitive races in Maine’s history. Now, Jared is in Congress fighting through gridlock to pass legislation for veterans, small businesses, and everyday Americans with a tough, competitive race ahead for re-election.

Jason served three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan as an Army Ranger where he was awarded the Bronze Star for actions during battle. When he returned, he served on the Colorado Board of Veterans Affairs, became a name partner at a law firm, and ran (and won election) for Congress. Now he's in a race for re-election to continue fighting every day to make Colorado a better place.

New Politics supports outstanding military veterans and national service leaders, alumni of programs like AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps, to step up and serve our country again, this time through politics. We were proud to be behind the movement of veterans who ran for office for the first time in 2018, and we have big plans to grow into the future.
