Save the Children Action Network is the political voice for kids.
Nice to meet you, John! My name’s Tara.
SCAN’s fifth Day of Action is all about reflecting on our advocacy purpose. In other words, what makes us so passionate about speaking up for kids?
For me, it’s doing everything I possibly can to build a better future for my girls. I work hard to support our family — but it’s tough being a single mom in rural Kentucky.
We live in a food desert where power bills have tripled over the past few years. Like millions of parents across the country, I’ve struggled to afford groceries on top of a home, child care and other essentials.
Throughout my childhood, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helped us through hard times . Now, SNAP keeps food on my own table.
These benefits are so important for families like mine – and people are getting the message. Check out SCAN's poll to see how voters feel about SNAP! [[link removed]]
That’s why I love being an advocate, John. I’m using my voice to give my daughters – and generations of kids after them — everything they need to thrive.
Together, we’re truly making a difference.
Thanks for being a voice for kids,
