How long do you think I will be able to watch before finding the first five errors in the 'A Shot in The Dark' Series by Candace Owens?
Yes, Candace Owens, the "American conservative political commentator, author, activist, and television presenter," wants to give people information about vaccines.
The First Five Errors in the 'A Shot In The Dark' Series by Candace Owens
Instead, it's just more misinformation, as you will soon see...
“I want to use CDC data,” she said. “I want to take a look at the FDA inserts when I talk about what can happen if you give your child a vaccine. These are things that the pediatrician does not supply you with, which should be astounding to you.”
Candace Owens Questions Big Pharma, Vaccines In Her Series ‘A Shot In The Dark’
That's she is talking about vaccine inserts in the promo for her show isn't a very good sign!
Neither is that she has described vaccines as poison.
In 'A Shot In The Dark,' Candace Owens shares her opinions, which are basically anti-vaccine talking points, on:
- Gardasil & HPV - the vaccine that prevents cervical cancer!
- the vitamin K shot for newborns - the shot (not a vaccine) that prevents vitamin K deficiency bleeding in newborns and infants
- the Hepatitis B vaccine for newborns - another vaccine that prevents cancer!
- erythromycin eye ointment for newborns - a treatment that prevents blindness in newborns!
- the rotavirus vaccine - a safe and effective vaccine that prevents severe diarrhea and dehydration
- a link between SIDS and DTaP vaccines - a so-called link that has been debunked over and over again
- pertussis vaccines - vaccines which aren't perfect, but which have dramatically decreased the number of deaths from pertussis, especially for infants
- the polio vaccine - we are close to eliminating polio, despite folks like Candace Owens.
- the flu shot - not perfect, but prevents severe flu and flu deaths
- the MMR vaccine - what happens when folks stop getting vaccinated? More measles, mumps, and congenital rubella syndrome. Candace Ownes doesn't warn about that in her videos as she pushes an association between the MMR vaccine and autism!
- the hepatitis A vaccine - a vaccine few people think about - until there is a hepatitis A outbreak in their area
- the Hib vaccine - before the Hib vaccine, we had the 'horror of Hib!'
- the Prevnar vaccine - another vaccine that prevents meningitis.
- the RhoGAM shot - has she ever seen a baby with hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn?
All things we have written about before...
She also wonders why Peter Hotez won't debate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr...
The First Five Errors in the Polio Episode of 'A Shot In The Dark' Series by Candace Owens
In Episode 12 of her series, 'A Shot In The Dark,' Candace Owens takes on polio and the polio vaccine.
Her take?
Like many anti-vaccine folks, she blames polio outbreaks on the use of DDT, a pesticide.
The problem with this theory?
While DDT was sprayed in the 1940 and 50s, it was sprayed after polio epidemics had already stricken a town.
Why?
At the time, they didn't know what caused polio and some thought it was spread by mosquito bites. So they sprayed DDT to kill mosquitos.
So while cases of polio may correlate with the use of DDT, it's not in the way folks like Candace Owens would have you think.
What else?
We had polio before DDT was first synthesized!
And we still have polio, even though DDT hasn't been used for over 50 years.
'A Shot In The Dark' Series by Candace Owens
It shouldn't be a surprise that all of the other episodes of her vaccine series are also filled with errors and misinformation.
It's almost like she took our list of PRATTS (Anti-Vaccine Points Refuted A Thousand Times) and made a video series about them!
"Per the CDC website, only an average of 645 people in the United States were being
diagnosed with tetanus before the vaccine rollout. That's effectively 0% of all Americans.
Why would I need to fear this disease for my child?"Candace Owens - Pertussis and Definition of Insanity
Like other anti-vaccine influencers, in effect, she is taking a stab in the dark, throwing out outrageous ideas to see what her followers will believe.
It's anti-vaccine propoganda 101.
She downplays the risks of vaccine-preventable diseases, overstates the risks of vaccines, and tries to make you think vaccines don't even work and aren't necessary.
Why is Candace Owens So Opposed to Vaccines?
But why is she so against vaccines?
She passed out after getting her HPV vaccines, which sounds exactly like vaccination-related syncope!
As most people now, that's a common reaction to getting an injection. It's not a vaccine injury.
Are you going to let her scare you away from vaccinating and protecting your family because she fainted after getting a shot?
