A monumental threat is facing animals in our country, and we need your help to stop it!

Friend,

The fight is heating up over the Farm Bill, and we need every animal advocate to stand with us. Allies of the pork industry in Congress have made it clear they've got their eyes set on invalidating California's Prop 12—one of the nation’s strongest laws on farm animal welfare—through this year's Farm Bill. We need you to act NOW and tell your legislators you oppose any language in the Farm Bill that seeks to nullify state animal protection laws, like Prop 12.

Ever since the Supreme Court upheld Prop 12, lobbyists representing only a segment of the pork industry have pushed for a so-called “fix.” And now that we have seen the proposed partisan Farm Bill for the U.S. House of Representatives, their plan is clear.

What's worse is this "fix" they're proposing is not at all necessary. Those pushing this language are more concerned with the bottom lines of giant multinational meat producers than treating animals more humanely. Prop 12 and other state animal welfare laws seek to reduce animal suffering and public health risks by banning the cruelest methods of confinement, including gestation crates—metal bar cages that are so small they prevent mother pigs from even turning around.

They already tried this with the Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act, but you spoke up. Now they're going to try through the Farm Bill, so we need you to act again. ([link removed])

If we don’t succeed in stopping this, even the most basic protections for animals could disappear, dooming animals to lives of suffering and cruelty. Please tell your legislators that Prop 12 and other state animal welfare laws do not need to be “fixed” and urge them to oppose language in the Farm Bill that seeks to nullify state animal protection laws.
