Governor Walz Orders Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Peace Officer Memorial Day

Governor Tim Walz has ordered all United States and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in honor of peace officers who have been killed or injured in the line of duty. Governor Walz has proclaimed May 15, 2024 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and May 12-18 as Police Week in the State of Minnesota.

“Today we honor the peace officers who gave their lives to protect ours. We thank the more than 10,499 law enforcement officers in Minnesota who serve in 408 law enforcement agencies for their dedication and services to Minnesota communities,” said Governor Walz.

Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are also encouraged to join in lowering their flags.
