John, today Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson went to New York to offer support as Donald Trump appeared for trial. If he had his way Congress would not be a check and balance on a potential second Trump administration — it would be a rubber stamp.

After recently appearing by Trump’s side at a Mar-a-Lago fundraiser to spread false claims about voter fraud, Speaker Johnson was in New York City today — standing by Trump’s side for his trial, as Trump complained and attempted to undermine the justice system.

This is nothing new for Speaker Johnson — in fact, he even served as Trump’s defense counsel in his first Senate impeachment trial.

John, I will work with anyone to get things done for the people of CT-05. But when we see blatant conflicts of interest that threaten to tear down our system of checks and balances and undermine the rule of law, we have to call them out.
