We’re writing to you from the future – one where we achieved a livable New York.
Since we passed our Livable New York bill over a decade ago, our state has been building new housing for all that runs on clean energy. More and more families are moving into beautiful, safe, and affordable housing every day.
At this point, all new buildings run on clean energy, and we’ve transitioned most older buildings completely off of fossil fuels.
Good union jobs are in high demand to build new housing and transition every building to clean energy, too. It doesn’t matter what our immigration status is or whether we’ve been incarcerated – everyone has an opportunity to help build this vision for New York.
With this investment in housing, homelessness has gone down while sparking a chain reaction of funding life-affirming services to our communities that let New Yorkers thrive.
Libraries, infrastructure, a safety net, clean air and water – every New Yorker has access to these things now. And we made it happen by taxing the rich what they owe.
As you read this email in 2024, we’re fighting to make this version of the future a reality in a tough political climate where some political leaders are benefitting from real estate and fossil fuel interests.
