Waterkeeper Alliance Applauds EPA’s Historic New Rules to Protect Communities and Clean Water from Toxic Power Plant Pollution

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released four historic final rules that take bold action against emissions of greenhouse gasses and discharges of toxic water pollution from power plants across the country.

EPA has invited Waterkeeper Alliance’s Senior Attorney Kelly Hunter Foster to serve on its new Animal Agriculture and Water Quality Federal Advisory Committee Subcommittee.

Coalition Takes Action Against EPA for Failing to Implement Clean Water Act

Waterkeeper Alliance, the Environmental Integrity Project, and Center for Biological Diversity sent EPA a notice of intent to sue for its failure to issue national reports on water quality, which is a key requirement of the federal Clean Water Act.

Urge Secretary Buttigieg to Finalize the Gas Pipeline Leak Detection and Repair Rule!

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration  has proposed an Advanced Leak Detection and Repair Rule to address unintended leaks and intentional releases from the more than 2.7 million miles of gas pipelines across the country. This would help better protect our climate and waterways, as well as the health and safety of our communities.

His watershed is near Lake Okeechobee on the southern end, and the state's iconic space industry on the northern end. The area is both incredibly biodiverse and facing many threats.
