John xxxxxx,

I need your help to save lives.

From the moment the COVID-19 outbreak began, public health officials preached that the deadly disease doesn't discriminate, that it's a so-called "equal opportunity killer."

But it turns out that the impact of this pandemic is actually highlighting the inequality that sadly exists throughout our society. Decades of discrimination and marginalization have left communities of color especially vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic.

If we don't collect data on these racial impact disparities, then we cannot create the response needed to save lives. Will you add your name alongside mine to demand that the White House release race-specific data to address racial and ethnic disparities in our response to COVID-19?

We cannot properly confront the problem unless we understand the full extent of the problem. While New York City's race data is not fully available, preliminary data showed highly disproportionate impact rates on Black and Latino communities, and early data from Chicago, Detroit, and Louisiana revealed African Americans are dying at an alarmingly high rate — much higher than their relative population size.

As we address this public health crisis and continue efforts to flatten the curve, we must ensure that our most vulnerable and marginalized communities are being centered in our response efforts.

Add your name now to demand the collection of racial and ethnic demographic data we need to address this alarming trend and bring equity to testing and treatment for COVID-19.

Thank you for making your voice heard today. Together, we can ensure that everyone in our community has equal access to testing and treatment.

Please be safe and continue to follow the guidelines for staying healthy.
