So what inspired over 800 Minnesotans just like you to gather in Bloomington on the 26th? Certainly Seth Dillon was a huge draw because he and his team at The Babylon Bee are drawing attention to the most pressing – and most absurd – issues of our day, but doing it with laughter and joy.
That resonates with us deeply. We have serious work to do, but we don’t take ourselves or our battles too seriously. We hold tightly to joy, learning to laugh in the face of adversity, because we have a hope that won’t disappoint us, no matter the ups and downs of each day and each session.
Part of our work is informing concerned citizens like you about the issues being debated in Saint Paul, many of which are deeply harmful to families. These issues too often fly under the radar because a partisan press takes a nothing-to-see-here approach to legislation that most Minnesotans would find abhorrent.
Seth talked about the mission of The Babylon Bee in a similar way. Their primary tool is satire – exaggerating reality in a way that highlights its absurdity. Or, as Seth put it, “exposing the foolishness for what it is.” They are using humor to shine a light on very dark things.
They do that so well on a national scale. We’re focused on Minnesota, and there’s no shortage of material here. Whether it’s abortion anywhere, for any reason, up until birth, forcing a radical gender ideology on primary school children against the wishes of their parents or without their knowledge, or stripping religious liberty protections from Minnesota statutes, foolishness abounds in Saint Paul right now.
That’s why this ministry is so important and why my team and I have dedicated ourselves to this fight. While we would prefer to have God-fearing men and women at the helm of our state – and we hope to have far more of them after this Fall’s elections – our work is most critical in times like these, when the cards are stacked against the values you and I hold dear.
Our advocacy, education, communication, and legal efforts are critically needed, to prevent a radical left that fears no accountability from voters from taking us in a direction that the vast majority of Minnesotans do not want.
Polls have proven that voters see their positions as extreme, and it’s up to us to spread the word and rally those who oppose this radical agenda. Will you join with us to spread the word about this fight for our values? A gift of $25, $50, $100, or even more, will be matched, dollar for dollar, through May 31st.
