I’m going to be transparent: this is one of those irritating emails where I ask if you can donate to my campaign. I’m sure you often close these emails without reading them, but I’m going to ask you to hear me out, and then if, at the end, you feel like pitching in, I’d be grateful if you could send along just $5. (And if not, that’s OK, too.) So, here are the five biggest reasons I’m asking for your support today. 1) This is one of just a handful of congressional districts that will decide control of the House. In 2022, this race was so close that we went to sleep on Election Night not knowing for sure whether we’d won or lost. And I accept that we’ll probably be in that situation again this November. You know what I’m not OK with though? Going to sleep not knowing that we did everything we possibly could to win every single vote. 2) If we win, we’ve got a real shot at protecting abortion rights in all 50 states. We’re just FOUR seats away from a pro-choice Democratic majority in the House — as long as we hold battleground seats like this one. So when you donate, you are increasing our chances that we can pass a federal law guaranteeing every woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions. 3) Far-right super PACs are targeting this seat. They’ve said publicly that defeating me is a top priority — because they know as well as I do that their path to implementing their MAGA agenda runs right through OR-06. 4) My record shows I deliver results. Here in Oregon, I helped pass one of the most ambitious abortion-rights laws in the nation. And in Congress, I’m one of the only first-term Democrats to pass a law through the GOP majority — and I’ve also delivered critical funding to help families in our district. 5) Our May fundraising - very simply - needs to improve. Going into tomorrow’s mid-month deadline, we’re short of our projections — and, on a grassroots campaign like ours, that means the response we get to emails like this really matters. Every single person who reads this and takes action by donating just $5 is helping us get back on track.
It’s an honor to serve our community in Congress, and I am so grateful to have you in my corner. Thank you, Andrea |
