NYS Assembly stop stalling on climate
Pass NY HEAT! Albany May 22
Join the Renewable Heat Now Campaign and NY Renews on May 22 in Albany for a crucial press conference followed by an energetic, fun, and targeted lobby action. We will urge specific Assemblymembers who have been hindering climate action to join the Senate in passing the NY HEAT Act before the end of this session. New York's families have waited long enough for cleaner heat and lower energy bills. Now is the time to act! RSVP and stay tuned for more information - bus transportation and lunch will be provided.
Beach Clean Up
Saturday, May 25, 12:00pm – 2:30pm
350BK is joining forces with SurfriderNYC and Artichoke Dance Company for a fun afternoon of action. It'll be followed by a beach cleanup until 2:30. Meet at 96th Street on Rockaway Beach. Sign up, then show up! Get there by subway, bus or ferry.
SUMMER OF HEAT on Wall Street
Sustained climate actions June - August in NYC
Organizing call May 15th or 29th
Through a mass, sustained, disruptive escalation, a group of NYC and national climate organizations are joining together to consistently target Wall St financiers of the fossil fuel industry this summer. 350Brooklyn joined this coalition that will focus on Citibank, the insurance companies AIG and Chubb, and others. We hope everyone in 350Brooklyn will sign up to participate in at least one action. Sign up for the organizing call on Wednesday May 15th or 29th at 7:30pm, to learn about the plans in more detail. The actions will start with a week of non-stop actions at Citibank for the week of June 10th. Join for one day or the whole week. We need you to stand up to demand the end of financing the horrors of climate chaos and environmental racism.
Make some waves around plastic pollution
Save your plastic, use it in an art build and join us to feature it in the Mermaid Parade. We're constructing a human-powered float simulating the Great Pacific Garbage Patch that will be featured in the Mermaid Parade. Please save the following used plastic items:
- snack food wrappers/chip bags
- bottle caps and container lids
- produce netting
- bags and films
- utensils
Bring them to the following drop offs:
- June 1, 1-7 pm, at Ko Art Studio, (180 Smith Street)
- June 9, noon-3pm at Gowanus Canal Conservancy (248 3rd Street, 11215)
- June 13, 5:30-7:30pm at the Greenpoint Library (107 Norman Ave, 11222)
- June 15, 11:30-2:30pm at the Greenpoint Library
On June 15, 11:30-4:30PM lend your hands for the art build at the Greenpoint Library. Feel free to come for any length of time. Then, join us in the iconic Mermaid Parade on June 22 where we'll reach thousands of viewers.
