John,
Doesn’t it feel like you don’t see South Florida on TV or in the movies as much these days? Just a few years ago, we had hit shows like CSI Miami, Dexter, and Bloodlines and critically acclaimed movies like Moonlight filmed here.
But now, despite our beautiful natural settings and world-renowned architecture, it’s hard to find a show or movie set in South Florida, let alone filmed here.
And that’s no accident — over the past few years, politicians in Tallahassee have cut incentives for TV and film production. Now, Florida has gone from third-place in the nation for film and TV production work to not even in the top twenty.
And this isn’t just about the pride of seeing our state on TV. It’s about creating good paying jobs, protecting our arts and culture, and growing our economy.
We need these programs back. As your next State Representative, I’ll file a bill to make sure that happens on Day ONE.
