This is what keeps me up at night, friend: My three kids are growing up in a state with fewer freedoms than I had at their age.
You don't need to be a parent to experience the same sinking feeling I get when I think about that. But as a mother — and the daughter of a woman who sought out freedom for her family — it hits hard.
My family lived under a dictatorship in Ecuador where corrupt politicians prevented any true liberty. It's why my mom immigrated our family to the United States when I was just 14, why she worked double shifts as a home health care provider, and why I worked in a doughnut shop to help my family make ends meet. It's because America was the promise of freedom. The promise of opportunity to do anything and be anything we set our minds to.
But now, corrupt politicians like my opponent, Sen. Rick Scott, are taking away our freedoms instead of protecting them. He is directly responsible for confirming Supreme Court justices that eviscerated reproductive rights. Now, Florida has one of the most extreme abortion bans in the entire nation — a dangerous erosion of liberty my kids are forced to grow up under.
When corrupt politicians like Rick Scott attack one freedom, they never stop there. That's why I'm running for Senate to stop him.
I'm in this fight for my kids, for my state of Florida, and to preserve that same promise of liberty that called out to me when I was just a young girl living under a dictatorship. With polling showing me ahead of Rick Scott right now, I know we can win this — but I need your help to do it, friend.

If you share my urgency for protecting our freedoms — and defeating corrupt politicians like Rick Scott — then please, make a donation of $5 or whatever you can to help me win in Florida. Rick Scott spent $64 million of his own fortune to win this seat last time around, so I can only compete and win with your grassroots support.
