Fellow Kansan,
Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! This is a weekly update on my work on behalf of Kansans in the Big First District.
I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That's what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come.
Yours in service,

This week, the House of Representatives will consider several pieces of legislation to support America’s law enforcement officials in recognition of National Police Week. Law enforcement officers protect our communities and deserve our highest honor. I'm grateful for the extraordinary individuals in the Big First District who serve and protect us every day. Their resilience and dedication ensure the safety and well-being of our communities.
The House will also consider legislation to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) this week. Kansas has a deep history with aviation, and I am proud to be a voice for our state’s aviation industry. This legislation will help us improve critical infrastructure for airports of all sizes, streamline the FAA bureaucracy, strengthen the nation’s general aviation sector, encourage the rapid deployment of safe technological innovations, and address workforce challenges throughout the aviation system. I am proud to have helped pass this legislation out of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and look forward to voting in favor of it on the House Floor.
Finally, the House Agriculture Committee is preparing for a full committee markup of the Farm Bill next week. I am committed to protecting and strengthening crop insurance, incentivizing agricultural trade programs that help America remain competitive and secure, conducting rigorous oversight, and rolling back overly restrictive regulations on American agricultural producers. I came to Congress to advocate for agriculture and conservative Kansas values, and I am proud to represent Kansas farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers in Congress. Keep an eye on my social media to be the first to know about updates on the upcoming farm bill markup.

Advocating for Animal Health Research in the Farm Bill
Investing in agricultural research - particularly animal health research - supports our nation’s food security and ultimately our national security. It’s a more cost-effective approach to protecting our nation’s food supply and sees a higher return on our tax dollars by limiting animal disease outbreaks before they spread.
We must ensure that the next Farm Bill adequately invests in animal health research to protect our food supply chain, agricultural producers, and consumers.

Fighting President Biden's Anti-American Energy Agenda
Last week, I voted to protect Kansans' right to choose what appliances they use in their homes and eliminate burdensome red-tape from the U.S. Department of Energy. The Hands off Our Home Appliances Act, prohibits the Secretary of Energy from banning products based on the product's fuel type. President Biden and his administration’s war on fossil fuels has only hurt energy producers and driven up costs for consumers.
We need an all-of-the-above energy approach that prioritizes American energy independence and doesn't allow Washington, D.C. to pick the winners and losers. I am committed to removing policies that handcuff American producers who are fueling our world and burden consumers with high energy costs.

Stopping Illegal Immigrants from Voting in U.S. Elections
Last week, I also voted yes on the Equal Representation Act. This bill aims to disincentivize sanctuary cities from encouraging illegal immigration. Current law permits migrants who are in the country illegally to be counted in the U.S. Census, the Electoral College count, and Congressional Districts for apportionment. This bill corrects that flaw and ensures our maps are determined by American citizens and legal immigrants.
We should do everything we can to make it easier for immigrants to come into the country legally and discourage them from entering the country illegally. Especially with President Biden’s open border policies creating an unprecedented crisis in our nation, this bill is a small step in the right direction. This commonsense legislation puts Americans first and protects our nation’s elections.

Congressional Real Estate Caucus
Real estate businesses contribute to the growth and development of our local, state, and national economies. As a former commercial real estate agent, I’m proud to join Representatives Mark Alford, Lou Correa, and Brittany Petterson as a co-chair of the Congressional Real Estate Caucus and to serve as an advocate for the real estate industry in the halls of Congress.
Kansas Association of Realtors
The Kansas Association of Realtors (KAR) advocates on behalf of Kansas real estate agents as they work to provide housing options for Kansans, generate jobs, and offer top-quality services for homeowners. I appreciated hearing about the current issues surrounding real estate, and how Congress can work with realtors to develop long-term solutions. I was also happy to share that my colleagues and I launched the Congressional Real Estate Caucus last week. Thank you, KAR, for meeting with me. I look forward to working together to advocate for real estate in the halls of Congress.

Beef Alliance
The Beef Alliance is a group of innovative cattle feeding producers who represent one-third of the total U.S.-fed cattle supply. As Congress prepares to reauthorize the next farm bill, their voice is incredibly important. During our meeting, we discussed the importance of a robust farm bill that provides tools for cattle producers to manage risks and invest in animal health and disease prevention rather than managing disease outbreaks. They also shared their concerns with USDA’s decision to cancel several National Agricultural Statistics Service reports, which I have urged USDA to reconsider as we work to give our producers some of the certainty they need and deserve. Thank you, Beef Alliance, for your work on behalf of cattle feeding producers across America.

National Beef
Founded in Dodge City in 1992, National Beef is now globally recognized as providing quality beef, value, and service to customers worldwide. I enjoyed meeting with CEO, Tim Klein, to discuss food safety measures and the importance of investing in animal health research. I appreciate National Beef’s mission to provide animal protein to Kansas and the world.

CoBank
CoBank is a national cooperative bank serving vital industries across rural America and nearly 850 customers in Kansas. I was pleased to meet with Duane Anderson, Kansan and CoBank Director, to discuss the need for a five-year farm bill that maintains a strong farm safety net and addresses the financial needs of agricultural producers and rural economies in Kansas and across the country.

Great Plains Manufacturing
It was a pleasure meeting with David Disberger from Great Plains Manufacturing and Travis Tsunemori from Kubota. Great Plains, a Kubota Company, is headquartered in Salina and has several locations throughout Kansas. Great Plains is a leader in the manufacturing of agricultural implements for tillage, seeding, and planting. I appreciated speaking with David and Travis about how their companies are contributing to their communities, and ways that we can work together to improve manufacturing in the United States.

Walmart
It was great to meet with managers from Walmart stores and clubs around the nation including, Randy Lucas, who is a manager of the Sam’s Club in Garden City, Kansas. We discussed their new case-ready beef facility in Olathe, Kansas. It will create more than 600 new jobs in the community while building a more resilient supply chain for Kansans and consumers throughout the Midwest. We also talked about their support of H.R. 1770, the Equitable Community Access to Pharmacist Services Act, which expands Medicare coverage to include services provided by a pharmacist. This bill removes handcuffs on services that pharmacists can provide and allows them to practice their full scope of expertise in rural communities where access to healthcare is often a challenge. Everyone should have access to quality healthcare regardless of their zip code and I am a proud cosponsor of this legislation.
