Dear Supporter,

When was the last time you thought about the way all our STUFF is made?

Our society relies on goods – everything from steel and concrete for construction to fertilizer for agriculture. But the way we make these materials often wastes critical resources while polluting our air, land, and water. To build a just, livable planet, we must transform the way we manufacture these goods so that the process creates quality green jobs, reduces economic inequalities, and slashes pollution at the same time.

That’s where our new Industrial Transformation campaign comes in.

Industrial decarbonization policy can go a long way to ensure that the goods we make – and the way we make them – support a livable climate and healthy communities. By working on regulations, pressuring the government to ‘buy clean,’ and advocating for climate-friendly trade policies, our campaign has some big goals!

This is a crucial moment to work on improving our industrial sector. The Department of Energy recently announced $6 billion in new funding to help reduce carbon pollution produced by heavy industry and manufacturing. This funding will go towards everything from removing coal from the steelmaking process, producing ‘green cement’, and building a sustainable aluminum smelter.

Funding for these projects was made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act, the biggest ever investment in climate solutions, clean energy jobs, and decarbonization. But this effort is under threat from big polluters and the politicians in their pockets.

Republicans are trying to DEFUND these critical investments just when they’re getting started.

Tell Congress: Protect funding for decarbonization!

These newly-funded industrial projects provide an opportunity for creating technology and solutions at scale to greatly reduce our emissions and meet important climate goals. The first round of funding alone will reduce emissions and create tens of thousands of new jobs.

Our Industrial Transformation campaign will advocate for several high-impact policies including:

- Investments in clean, sustainable goods
- Coupling public investments with smart regulations and standards
- Urging the government to ‘buy clean’
- Climate-friendly trade policies that emphasize jobs for U.S. workers
- Coordinating economy-wide investments

Together, we can work to build a livable planet and a society where everyone can access the goods they need while creating jobs, reducing inequalities, slashing pollution, and protecting our ecosystems for future generations.

I am excited to work with you and will be in touch with more opportunities to take action soon.
