Dear friend,

This April, we’re in the midst of a pandemic that’s left schools and non-essential businesses closed, families financially struggling, and many Mississippians sick with the coronavirus – with African Americans disproportionately impacted.

Yet, State Leadership thought it was a good time to name April ‘Confederate Heritage Month.’ Seriously.

Choosing to honor confederate heritage in the midst of a pandemic not only once again creates the worst possible image for Mississippi, but only pulls us further apart in a time when we all need to be pulling together.

Just like Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith’s photos of herself in confederate garb in 2018 , this is a polarizing move that only reminds us of Mississippi’s shameful past, when we need to be focusing on a brighter, more united future. Mississippians don't need throwbacks right now, we need to move forward.

If you’re ready for a leader in the U.S. Senate who’s dedicated to leaving the past behind and uniting Mississippians, make a contribution of $10 (or whatever you can afford right now) to fuel our campaign:

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your contribution will go through immediately:

I’m ready to bring the people together to celebrate what makes Mississippi so special and great today for everyone – not a painful part of our history that hurt so many.

Thanks,

Mike
