John,
It's never been more important that Kansans are taking steps to put their health first. I want to extend my thanks and gratitude to our frontline workers who are putting themselves at risk every time they show up for work.
This week is National Public Health Week, a time to address how we can make a difference to prevent poor health and risk for disease in our communities -- and this year, the most significant way Kansans can make a difference is by doing their part to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, maintaining public health is about more than flattening the curve. It's also about taking the steps to protect our mental health as well.
The COVID-19 pandemic is increasing stress levels for many Kansans. As we continue to practice physical distancing, social isolation can become detrimental to one's mental health.
Maintaining our health during this time is so important. My thoughts are with every single Kansan during these times. But together, we will get through this pandemic.
We need you to help spread the word about how important it is to maintain your mental health during this time. Whether it's spending time outdoors or reconnecting with friends online over video chat -- will you take a moment to share what steps you're taking to put your health first?
