Pittsburgh was one of several cities recommended by the State Department for resettling the roughly 76,000 people evacuated from Afghanistan in 2021.
As refugee students navigate the complexities of new school systems, many face challenges in communication, discrimination and helping their families resettle in a new country ([link removed]) .
School districts, resettlement agencies and organizations that worked with refugee populations have been tasked with figuring out a system that could cater to the needs of these youth.
