Friends, here we are.

It’s Jen, Campaign Manager for Joe Biden -- the presumptive Democratic nominee for President.

Today we find ourselves at the beginning of the general election, where a great task lies ahead of us -- defeating Donald Trump.

And folks, it’s never been more clear that we need new, real leadership. Donald Trump let this country down, and now we are all facing the consequences.

But even in these uncertain times, I’m still certain of one infallible truth that is the backbone of Joe’s candidacy: there’s nothing the American people cannot do if we do it together.

It’s going to take every single one of us, and I mean everyone, coming together and joining in this fight. So, whether you’ve been with Joe Biden since last April or you joined on today, we’re so grateful to have you on this team.

I know this is a difficult time and that we ask a lot of you, but as I’ve said before, we cannot unseat Donald Trump if we stop campaigning and stop fundraising. Because winning the battle for the soul of this nation won’t be easy, but we have to do it. It’s a fight we cannot lose, especially not now.

So, I’ve got a big ask to make of you and I hope you’ll say yes. I know you cannot pitch in every time we ask, and you might not be able to today -- that’s okay. But it’s still my job to ask so we can keep this campaign strong.

If you’re in this fight one hundred percent, if you know that we have to do everything in our power to defeat Trump this November, will you make your first donation to give our campaign the resources we need to make this the fight of Trump’s life?

There’s so much on the line that we cannot lose sight of.

We need to follow the science in making sure we are keeping Americans safe in this uncertain time. We need to give Americans the health care they need to stay healthy. We need to give small businesses the tools they will need to rebuild.

We’ve got to rebuild the backbone of this country, our middle class, and make sure families have everything they need to get ahead.

We’ve got to make sure every American is included in our democracy and bring back decency to our politics.

We’ve got to restore respected leadership on the world stage and lead the way in facing the global challenges starting with climate change.

It’s going to be a tough battle, but we have to come together and get it done.

And I’m counting on you to be a part of all of this. What we do starting today, on day one of the general election, is going to set the tone for the rest of this race, and we need to start strong.
