As the People’s Attorney, Rob is working to make sure California remains the best place to live, work, raise a family, and run a business. That includes standing up for consumers, a fair marketplace, and transparent pricing. It also includes fighting against too-good-to-be-true deals that actually are too good to be true.
Rob and a bipartisan coalition of attorneys general just secured a major settlement against AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon for misleading advertising practices that have become commonplace in the cell phone industry.
These companies must now pay $10.25 million to the states, including $1.2 million to California. They’re also required to comply with specific requirements to ensure their advertising is truthful and accurate, including clear explanations for unlimited claims, switch-and-save offers, discounted services, and free or discounted devices.
With cell phones and internet access now essential to so many of our daily lives, Rob is making sure the big wireless companies don’t take advantage of consumers with false or misleading claims.
