Democrats could lose Maryland's U.S. Senate seat for the first time in over 40 years to a former Republican governor recruited by Mitch McConnell. (See email below.) Dems don't need Maryland in play as we're fighting to save democracy!
The New York Times calls progressive Angela Alsobrooks, who has been fighting for affordable housing, infrastructure investments, and a permanent Child Tax Credit, "a charismatic candidate who will be able to unite and excite the party, driving women and Black voters to the polls."
Angela Alsobrooks campaign will put donations to work IMMEDIATELY to Get Out The Vote for tomorrow's neck-and-neck primary. Please chip in today. – The PCCC Elections Team
EARLIER EMAIL:
Maryland’s U.S. Senate seat shouldn’t even be in play. But it is since former Republican Governor Larry Hogan was recruited by Mitch McConnell to run.
I’m Angela Alsobrooks and I’m the proud progressive running in this coming Tuesday’s primary. I’m best positioned to win this seat for Democrats, but I’m up against a self-funder and I need your donation to help Get Out The Vote.
My primary opponent, David Trone, has spent over $61 million trying to buy Maryland’s Senate seat. For years in Congress, he refused to join the Progressive Caucus and instead was aligned with corporate interests. That is not popular in Maryland, and he would put this Democratic seat at risk.
We have all the momentum in this race. I’m campaigning around the state to protect democracy, codify abortion access, challenge corporate greed, and increase pay for workers.
David Trone has used his millions to attack me. But we’re working hard and running a grassroots campaign.
