Remember March for Our Lives,
John?
Born out of a group of students who were brought together by one of the
deadliest school shootings in American history, in the years since
Parkland, they’ve been busy.
Rather than choosing despair, these students acted by leading nationwide
marches, sit-ins, walk-outs, and demonstrations uniting people from all
walks of life — all sharing a goal to end America’s epidemic of gun
violence.
MFOL is still standing strong six years later because of supporters like
YOU who power their movement.
And now they need our support again,
John. In a moment we’ll explain
the big wins they’ve already achieved and the challenges they face ahead
but for now, [ [link removed] ]can you take the first step by pitching in $20.24 or
whatever you’re able to invest in March For Our Lives’ crucial youth
organizing?
Since its launch in 2018, MFOL has scored some BIG wins. Check it out: ⬇️
✅ After five years of tenacious organizing and activism, the White House
introduced the first-ever Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
✅ State legislatures across the country have led the way in passing
lifesaving gun safety measures in California, New Jersey, Washington,
Michigan, and more!
✅ When MFOL and their partners filed an amicus brief challenging a lower
court decision that held domestic abusers’ right to own guns, the Supreme
Court listened and took up the case.
But their work is far from over,
John. And they have a long way
to go: ⬇️
* Gun violence has continued to plague states and communities around the
country. 2023 saw more mass shootings than 2022 — and nearly 40,000
people died from gun violence. These deaths are
preventable,
John.
* This summer, the Supreme Court is expected to issue its ruling in
United States vs. Rahimi, which is expected to have massive
implications for the safety of domestic violence victims, survivors,
and for the movement as a whole.
* MFOL is making massive investments in mobilizing young voters to the
polls this year to show up in full force to elect gun safety champions
up and down the ballot. That means educating voters about the stakes
of the election and turning them out to vote on November 5th.
The 2024 election is right around the corner and our lives, democracy and
futures are ALL on the line,
John. As November approaches,
MFOL hopes to build on their long history of victories by remaining at the
forefront of leading calls for gun safety.
Investing in young people will be essential this year and beyond — and
right now MFOL needs our support to uplift and boost their resources to
power their voter mobilization efforts.
