Hey John, remember The Epoch Times?
They’re the right-wing fake news outlet that’s been putting the billboards all over the country that say “#1 trusted news” with a bizarre stock photo of this guy:
Far from a trusted news source, The Epoch Times has long promoted COVID-19 misinformation, the Big Lie, and other baseless right-wing conspiracies. The paper also spent more money on social media advertising for Donald Trump than any other organization outside of the Trump campaign in 2020.
Well, John, The Epoch Times is starting its very own journalism school. Seriously. 😳
Earlier this week, The Epoch Times sent an email out to its subscribers announcing its goal to support a new journalism school in the same city as its HQ. The outlet said the school would champion The Epoch Times’ values of “truth and traditional.”
The truth according to The Epoch Times: alternative facts and conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and COVID-19. And traditional? That’s a dog whistle for the Christian right-wing fundamentalism that’s behind so many disturbing political conspiracies.
In short: The Epoch Times wants to swear in the next generation of far-right propagandists by giving them a BA in BS. They’ve even promised internships and jobs to promising graduates at the outlet and its sister network, NTD, an equally right-wing and conspiratorial television news station.
John, it’s clear that the far-right conspiracy machines aren’t slowing down. In fact, they’re escalating their tactics and strategizing years ahead.
