Hello Friend,

Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.

PROTECTING CONSUMER CHOICE

Image

The Department of Energy’s (DOE) recent  efficiency rules effectively ban common appliances that use natural gas, like stoves and dishwashers. From the cars we drive to the appliances we buy, the Biden Administration is willing to dictate our every move to implement their extreme climate agenda.

Only consumers have the power to decide what appliances they use in their own homes, not the government. That's why I voted for H.R. 6192, the Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act, which

  • Prevents DOE from banning household appliances based on fuel usage;
  • Blocks DOE from imposing energy conservation standards that are not technologically feasible and economically justified; and
  • Requires DOE conduct an economic impact study on how a proposed rule would affect low-income households and employment.

SECURING HURRICANE RELIEF FOR FLORIDA FAMILIES

Image

Hurricanes Ian and Nicole caused billions in damage in 2022. I’ve worked on multiple initiatives to provide needed disaster relief for losses incurred during these storms. In January, a bill I cosponsored, H.R. 5863, the Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act, passed the House as part of the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. Sadly, debate on this larger tax package has stalled in the Senate.

To expedite this critical relief, I joined Rep. Greg Steube to sign H. Res. 961, a discharge petition which would force a vote on H.R. 5863, separate from the larger tax bill. Discharge petitions that garner enough support prompt immediate consideration on the House floor. EXPEDITING WEAPONS TO ISRAEL

Image

Last week, to prevent an offensive on Rafah, the last Hamas stronghold in Gaza, the Biden Administration halted a critical weapons shipment to Israel. This sale was already approved by Congress and signed into law. Any delay threatens Israel’s security, allowing Hamas time to regroup and strengthen. I'm joining a letter to urge President Biden to deliver the approved shipments as quickly as possible. We must send a clear message America stands with our allies.
