On this date in 1862, Michael's great-great-grandfather — Civil War hero and Reconstruction-era Congressman Robert Smalls — seized his freedom in Charleston Harbor.

Last week, our campaign unveiled its second round of citizen supporters, and Michael earned the 2024 Gun Sense Candidate distinction from Moms Demand Action!

After the South Carolina General Assembly approved a bill to build a statue of Robert Smalls on the State House grounds, Michael honored his great-great-grandfather's legacy of service.

Michael's hometown paper in Mount Pleasant, the Moultrie News, spotlighted our campaign for Congress!

Despite some stormy Lowcountry weather, we had a great turnout for the grand opening of our Charleston-area campaign office and GOTV headquarters!

Michael also participated in the South Bay Democrats' candidate forum in Mount Pleasant.

There's so much work to do, and we're only just getting started.
