Johh, Happy Mother's Day!

Today, we honor and celebrate all mothers and maternal figures. Those who sacrificed for us, cared for us, encouraged us, and helped raise us to be who we are today. To every Mother across Colorado and the country: Thank you!

As a mother and grandmother, today is a time when I reflect on my very own relationship with my mother, my own daughters and granddaughter. To me, so much is about leaving our world in a better place.

Whether it is our environment and climate change or opportunities to support one’s family and making a living wage, it is critical that we leave our country in a better place for our next generations. My mother did this as a teacher and it is what guides me in my work in Congress. It is also what makes me so proud as I see my own daughters doing this as they have become adults.

Johh, on this Mother's Day, whether you're thinking of the future or the past, we have to commit to fighting for a better future for our children. That’s what I’ve learned, and it will stay with me for a lifetime.

To any mother and mother figure out there reading this, Happy Mother's Day!
