John,

Today we celebrate God's special gift of motherhood. If you were blessed to have a mother who raised you in the faith, if you are doing this for your children, or if your wife is blessing your children in this way, praise God.

One of the greatest examples of a mother's enduring faith is Hannah. Desperate for a child, she prayed to God for a son and promised to dedicate him to the Lord if He answered her prayers.

And in due time Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Samuel, for she said, "I have asked for him from the Lord." (1 Samuel 1:20)

The Lord heard Hannah's prayer and granted her request. She then kept her promise and dedicated Samuel to the Lord's service. He grew up to be a wise prophet and leader of Israel.

This Mother's Day, praise God for the mothers in your life and pray for God's continual blessings on them.

You can read a special Mother's Day devotion in the (April–June) 2024 ACLJ Prayer Guide. You will also find prayer requests related to the ACLJ's mission.
