John,
It's Senate Democratic Leader Dinah Sykes. Two months ago, I had a serious message about the capabilities of the GOP supermajorities in Kansas: they can pass nearly every bill they want, regardless of how it impacts hard working folks across the state.
And this session, they did just that.
While Governor Kelly used her veto power to block harmful bills sent to her desk, the Kansas GOP banded together to overturn two major pieces of legislation – further marginalizing access to abortion in Kansas.
John, I have to reiterate: we've got a great shot to BREAK the Republican Senate Supermajority and put an end to the iron grip Republicans have on our government this fall – let's not waste that chance. Can you chip in today to support the Kansas Dems on their mission to get more people-first Democrats elected? [[link removed]]

John, just in 2022 an overwhelming majority of Kansas voters elected to protect Reproductive rights after Roe V. Wade was overturned! These laws couldn't be further from what they want:
House Bill 2749 expands medically unnecessary and burdensome abortion reporting requirements , which is a direct intrusion on the patient-provider relationship.
House Bill 2436 creates the felony crime of “coercion to obtain an abortion.” This vague bill is going to prevent doctors from having an honest conversation with their patient about their pregnancy or birth control options, while leaving people without protections against other cases of family-planning coercion.
And next session we can count on the right-wing supermajorities to go even further, John. Year after year, regardless of what the voters say, they deny all Kansans the representation they deserve.
The only way to stop this harmful trend is by voting these self-interested legislators out – which means we need to strengthen our grassroots coalition now.
John, we cannot continue allowing these legislators to make decisions on our behalf if they're not going to listen to the people that elected them. The Kansas Democrats are doing everything they can to BREAK the legislative supermajority, but they can't do it alone. Can you pitch in $15, $35, $50, or anything you can today to help them elect more people-first Democrats? [[link removed]]

John,
It's Senate Democratic Leader Dinah Sykes, and I have a serious message.
The Kansas GOP has made it clear what they're using their Supermajorities for in 2024: to pass nearly every bill they want, regardless of how it impacts hard working folks across the state.
Their conservative policies are stunting our economy, hurting our workers, and neglecting our students – but with both Supermajorities, they can continue steamrolling people-first initiatives now and into the future.
We have a chance to break those Supermajorities and redirect Kansas toward common-sense governance for all, but we need the support of folks like you to help us make the change before it's too late.
John, all eyes are on Kansas this fall: We've got the best shot to BREAK both Supermajorities and put an end to the iron grip Republicans have on our government – let's not waste that chance. Can you chip in today to support the Kansas Dems on their mission to get more Democrats elected and create a people-first Kansas? [[link removed]]
BREAK THOSE SUPERMAJORITIES [[link removed]]
As a State Senator for the last 7 years, I've seen first-hand how extremists in Kansas's Legislature have always pushed an agenda that inches further to the right every year.
Last Session they wanted to implement a flat tax program, shifting the tax burden to working-class Kansans even after the Brownback failure of the early 2010's; they wanted to criminalize gender-affirming care and limit freedom of expression; and they wanted to restrict abortion access even after Kansas voters made it clear that's not what they wanted.
This Session the GOP did the exact same things to hurt our communities – presenting multiple new flat tax programs in both chambers; holding millions dollars for higher-education hostage and cutting $200 million of public education funding from the state budget; and putting forward more bills restricting abortion.
And next session we can count on the Kansas GOP to do it all over again, John. They're playing the long game to strengthen their Supermajorities – and once they have the numbers they need, we're going to see even harsher policies passed targeting workers, families, and our children.
The only way to stop this harmful trend is by voting them out this fall – which means we have to organize now.
John, growing our grassroots coalition has been the Kansas Dems’ top priority – and we still have a lot of work to do before Election Day. We've got to loosen their grip on the Legislature this year so we can keep the Governor’s seat Democratic, elect a Democratic Attorney General, and continue to move further away from Republican Supermajorities in 2026. Can you chip in to help the Kansas Dems get a head start on organizing for now and the future? [[link removed]]
