Wanted to send you all a mid-week update because some big news just hit. Well, the Governor is doing what he can to prevent what happened in Wisconsin from happening here in NJ. By moving the primary election to July, those 4 weeks will hopefully mean that we will pass the critical part of the spread of coronavirus. It will also give the election officials, Division of Elections, and Secretary of State time to build the infrastructure needed to handle the volume of VBM ballots. Lastly, we may be able to implement any gaps that we may find in the all-VBM May 12th special election. I fully support this move. 🍻
ICYMI, here is the recording of the VBM-NJ Lunchtime Webinar. Thank you all for your kind feedback. It's very gratifying that my work is of benefit to you.
There is one thing that is critical for us: getting secure ballot drop boxes. If Colorado gets 75% of their votes from these secure drop boxes (and that's a group of voters who have voted by VBM for years on a massive scale), then mail insecurity is a HUGE underlying issue. The impact of that is enormous. It means we have to have these boxes everywhere and the placement of them is critical to turning out the vote. Be sure to watch the webinar. All the recommendations can be found here.
I did not get a grant for this work. I was turned down. 😕 I had 4 professional grant seekers/writers helping me to find funders for this work and we came up with one, and it was the same one who couldn't provide a grant for this work. So, your donations are greatly appreciated. The correct link is: https://tinyurl.com/ATNJdonateElections2
For those asking for a copy of the slide deck that you see in the webinar, that slide deck from the webinar can be downloaded here.
What can you do to help our elections?
- Call your legislator to support A943 - provides prepaid postage on VBM ballots statewide
- Call your legislator to support A3591 - Dan's bill that provides voters protection from certain cases of ballot rejections
- Help educate family and friends in NJ and share the heck out of the website votebymailnj.org. The recommendations are here.
Be well. Stay well.
