Over the last few weeks, I’ve been holding town halls across the state to meet with Missourians and hear about the issues that are most important to them.
In Ste. Genevieve and St. Charles, and South Kansas City and Parkville, everyday people have similar concerns — and this morning, before I ask you to make a donation to my campaign, I want to take a few minutes to tell you about them.
We kicked things off in Ste. Genevieve, where people shared with me their worries about plans to “sunset” Social Security, like the ones brought forward by Senator Rick Scott. This is something I heard at every single stop across the state.
While Josh Hawley would put Rick Scott in charge of the Senate, I’ll fight like hell to protect every dollar people like you spend their lives working to earn.
Then we were off to St. Charles, where a crowd of more than 150 people showed up to talk about our chance this year to end the Big Brother control of our bodies and lives that politicians like Hawley never seem to want to give up.
From his personal crusade to overturn Roe v. Wade to his corrupt family business aimed at outlawing the abortion pill in all 50 states, Josh Hawley has made it his life’s mission to strip away reproductive freedom. But with an initiative to enshrine abortion rights into Missouri’s constitution and an opportunity to hold Hawley accountable, Missourians are fired up to take back their power this November.
We started this past week in South Kansas City at the Pipe Fitters Local 533 Union Hall. Even despite some storms, over 120 Missourians from all over the metro came out to share their thoughts with me.
They voiced concerns about attacks on working people — and the urgent need to pass legislation like the PRO Act to end “Right-to-Work” scams across the country. Organized labor built the middle class, and they continue to be the greatest advocate for America’s workers. I’m proud to stand with them in this race.
We ended the night with dozens of new volunteers, who are ready to knock doors, send texts, and make phone calls to turn out the vote this November.
We closed things out on Wednesday up north in historic Parkville for a town hall at the American Legion. Over 100 people from all over the Northland — teachers, nurses, small business owners, students — came out to share their stories.
We talked about breaking up monopoly power, as it squeezes Missouri’s small business owners on everything from supply chain costs to insurance for workers.
I also heard from public school teachers, who told me about the serious lack of investment into salaries and education as a whole in this state. As Missouri’s U.S. Senator and the son of a retired teacher’s aide, they’ll always be able to count on me to fight for investment in our workers and public schools.
Between now and November, I’ll continue hosting town halls and events all around the state because hearing from everyday Missourians is one of the most important parts of this grassroots movement.
But this campaign also needs resources to keep traveling around, meeting with Missourians, and getting our message in front of voters — and since we’re not taking a cent from corporate PACs, federal lobbyists, or Big Oil + Big Pharma execs, I’m relying on your help to do it, John.
