An important update from Congressman Ken Calvert about what he is working on in Washington on behalf of Riverside County residents

Our veterans deserve to receive the benefits and honors they earned while serving to protect America in our military.

My office and I were happy to play a small role in helping Corona veteran George Mello receive the recognition he earned on the battlefield decades ago. As you can see in this ABC-7 news story, I had the honor of presenting George with the Bronze Star he earned during the Korean War at a ceremony held recently in Corona.

I attended local public schools right here in my hometown of Corona, where I was fortunate to have a number of terrific teachers. Thank you to all of our teachers for the important role you play in educating America's next generation!

Earlier this week, President Joe Biden announced a pause in weapons transfers to Israel.

Hamas could have ended this war months ago by releasing all the hostages and turning themselves over to the Israeli Defense Forces.  Unfortunately, they made the choice to continue the conflict and force Israel to do what it must: end the threat of Hamas by hunting down terrorists in their last stronghold in Rafah.

Defense Secretary Austin’s confirmation today that the Biden Administration is holding up the transfer of 3,500 bombs and now reviewing further transfer of JDAM kits – which would bring precision to the fight in Rafah and help minimize civilian casualties – is incredibly frustrating and contrary to congressional intent.  While it is being reported that this shipment is distinct from the recent supplemental appropriations bill passed by Congress, it is clear that the overwhelming majority of Congress supports Israel’s mission to clear Rafah of Hamas.  

It is time to stop trying to appease terrorists and send the necessary weapons to Israel so they can end this war.

This past Tuesday was Fentanyl Awareness Day. We continue to lose hundreds of Riverside County residents to fentanyl-related deaths every year. As a Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Fentanyl Caucus in the House, I'm committed to saving lives by raising awareness and more aggressively stopping the importation of these drugs.
