Happy Mother's Day, John!
Today is a day to celebrate the moms and women in our lives who never cease to amaze us with their strength, determination, and unwavering love. But over the last few years, women and mothers across the country have faced an uncertain future due to the harmful Dobbs decision.
The decision to become a parent is a personal one and can be full of excitement, fear, or a dozen other conflicting emotions. But what it should never be is someone else’s decision.
We know that over 60% of people who seek abortions are already moms, making informed, educated choices about their own bodies and families.
And we trust moms.
In Connecticut, your Democratic leaders took steps to protect the rights of mothers, women, and individuals to make their own healthcare decisions, codifying the right to an abortion in our state constitution. But we still have work to do at home and in our country.
So, on this Mother's Day, let's celebrate the strength, resilience, and diversity of mothers and our shared commitment to protecting and expanding reproductive rights, fight against gender based discrimination, and work toward a more equitable future.
The moms in our lives never stop fighting for us. We promise to never stop fighting for them.
Sincerely,
Nancy DiNardo
