Hey John,
I’m so happy to share with the Run for Something community that I’m expecting a second baby girl later this fall!
With baby number 2 on the way and amidst joyous (and probably messy toddler-led) celebrations this weekend for Mother’s Day, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible strength, resilience, and love that mothers carry and the world we are creating for our children to grow up in.
This past year has been filled with challenges that reinforce the importance of strong, compassionate leadership at all levels of society. From the acute impact of climate change to the pressing issues of abortion, social justice, and economic inequality, our communities are facing unprecedented hurdles that demand innovative solutions and empathetic guidance.
Said another way: Our communities need more moms in charge.
Moms and parents of all gender identities play a pivotal role in advocating for better health care, championing education reform, spearheading environmental initiatives, and so much more. We’re doing it not just for us, but for our kids.
That's why it's crucial to encourage more mothers and parents to step forward and consider running for local office, where real change begins and where the decisions made can meaningfully affect people’s day-to-day lives.
But we’ve also got to keep it real. There are real systemic barriers – child care, financial barriers, lack of infrastructure, social pressure, and more – that keep moms from running for office and winning. One of the best ways to break down those barriers is to elect more moms and other parents who deeply understand these struggles and can help address them from the inside
With your support, we’re going to make that a reality. We’ve endorsed some amazing moms with elections this year who need your support to win. Chip in $5 or any amount you can to help send these moms where they belong: in power.
