[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont

Hi Friend,

Happy Mother’s Day! This is a day to express appreciation for the mother
figures in our lives, and all they do. I also recognize that for some,
this can be a tough day. Make sure to take care of yourself.

When I travel around Vermont, I speak frequently with moms, and I ask them
about the concerns they have for their children and the world they’re
growing into. They tell me many of the same things.

They worry about our country rolling back reproductive rights. With Roe
being overturned and Republicans looking to attack birth control and IVF,
they worry their children will have less reproductive freedom than they
did.

They worry about the future of our planet. The impacts of climate change
continue to worsen, as do natural disasters. Vermont experienced one of
our worst disasters ever last year with the flooding. If we don’t take
bold action, our children will face devastation at levels we’ve never seen
before.

They worry about the state of the democracy their children are growing up
in. Donald Trump is the presumptive GOP nominee and openly talking about
his plans to act as a dictator and flout the rule of law as president.
Voting rights are under attack at a time when they mean more than ever.

We need to restore reproductive freedom, we need to take bold climate
action, we need to protect our democracy, and we need universal paid leave
to give mothers a boost.

I’ll keep fighting for mothers and their children in Vermont and around
the country.

Thanks,

Peter
