Folks – I'm Alice, Lisa's mom. I wanted to reach out on this Mother's Day with a very special request. But first, I hope you'll let me share a little bit about myself and why your support for Lisa’s campaign is so important.

I grew up during the height of the Civil Rights Era. Raising a family amidst such turmoil was the catalyst for why my husband and I spent so much time teaching our daughters the importance of giving back.

I always knew Lisa would do exactly what she set her mind to, but I could only hope that she’d follow in her father’s footsteps and pursue a career in public service.

In 2016, folks like you came together and made history by electing my daughter as Delaware’s first woman and person of color to serve in Congress – and I can't express how grateful we were for your support.

But Lisa is back on the ballot this year, and political experts say she’s on the cusp of breaking one of the highest glass ceilings in politics by becoming the fourth Black woman to serve in the Senate. I couldn't be more proud.

As a mom and a Delawarean, this fight is personal to me. That's why I have to ask: In honor of Mother's Day today, will you chip in what you can to help my daughter make history, defend the Democratic Senate majority, and keep on fighting for families like yours and ours?
