National Police Week occurs every May and includes ceremonies, candlelight vigils, and other events of recognition to honor the fallen officers whose names have recently been added to The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. Please join Andrew this week in praying for the families and loved ones of our fallen officers and offering thanks to all of our brave men and women in blue. WHAT'S NEW IN NY-02 Andrew Honors Our Brave Servicemembers For the third consecutive year in a row, Henry Schein, Inc. hosted their annual 'Carry the Load' event honoring and remembering the service and sacrifice of our U.S. Military, Veterans, First Responders, and their families. Carry the Load is a national relay initiative held throughout the month of May, where participants honor those who did not return home from the line of duty and emphasize the importance of Memorial Day. We are forever indebted to the brave men and women who have courageously served our great country, and Andrew will continue to fight for them in the House of Representatives. CASEWORK HIGHLIGHT: Resolving IRS Issues A constituent contacted Andrew's office for help with issues he was having with the IRS. Sadly, his aunt who resided in Singapore, passed away 4 years ago and he was named power of attorney over her estate. For 3 years he tried, unsuccessfully, to receive an IRS Transfer Certificate to show the decedent's estate has met its U.S. Federal Estate Tax Liability. Andrew's casework team was able to fix the problem and the constituent is finally able to go to Singapore and settle the estate. Andrew knows how frustrating dealing with bureaucracy can be. That is why he has an entire team dedicated to helping constituents get what they need from the government. If you need help dealing with a federal agency, contact our office and our team will get to work on your case. KEEPING UP WITH CONGRESS Andrew Cosponsors Resolutions for National Police Week This week, Andrew cosponsored two resolutions in honor of Police Week. The National Police Week Resolution memorializes our selfless law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. It is a reminder that must never forget how our brave men and women in blue risk their lives every day to keep us safe. The Police Week Border Resolution condemns the Biden Administration for the worst border crisis in history & recognizes the important work state and local law enforcement are doing in the midst of this crisis. Andrew knows that our law enforcement officers need our support, now more than ever and he will continue to advocate for them at home and in the halls of Congress. Andrew Takes the Stage at NECA and SMACNA Conferences This week, Andrew spoke at the National Electric Contractors Association (NECA) and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) conferences in Washington, D.C. SMACNA is an international trade association with more than 100 chapters, including on Long Island. They work tirelessly to promote quality and excellence in the sheet metal and air conditioning industries. With projects in our district, NECA brings power, light and communication technology to buildings and communities on Long Island and across the United States. Andrew has always been a champion of infrastructure investment and knows that such improvements are essential to maintaining vital public services and benefits to his constituents and the American people.
