Lara Trump issues dangerous public threat
The RNC co-chair and Trump's patsy in the GOP party machine set off a shockwave of outrage and condemnation when she proposed sending attorneys to every major polling station across the country to "strike at a moment's notice, people on the ground to hit things and hit the ground running so 2020 never happens again." Given the constant threats of violence, harassment, and acts of intimidation coming from Trump's rabid supporters, it's hard to see this as anything but incitement.

"Reaching her expiration date": How Marjorie Taylor Greene fell so fast from MAGA stardom
MTG was once the crystal in the GOP space laser, a windfall fundraiser and a magnet for social media clout who was set to be the future leader of the MAGA movement. But now, it appears, that even her own colleagues are well and truly sick of her shit, as evidenced by her latest attempt to oust Speaker Johnson, which only drew support from 11 other Republicans. So why couldn't she follow Trump's example by leveraging her vindictive hatred and inability to ever shut up into a powerful position? "'She' is the explanation here. The Christian right-controlled GOP sees women as support staff, not leaders," writes Amanda Marcotte at Salon. "The GOP turned on her because, simply put, she got too big for her britches. Or, in more old-fashioned terms, she wanted to wear the britches, while they wanted her to stay in skirts." Not that anyone should feel bad for Greene...but she really should have seen this coming.

Could you get by on a measly $43,000 a month? It seems Rudy Giuliani cannot
Former Mayor of America and one-time Trump henchman Rudy Giuliani is in a whoooole lot of financial trouble. He was ordered to pay $148 MILLION in damages to two election workers he baselessly accused of rigging votes in the 2020 US election, which forced him to immediately declare bankruptcy. He subsequently told a court in January that he would set a "responsible" budget of just $43,000 a month to live off of, then promptly dropped three times that amount in a single month. The Guardian's Arwa Mahdawi, a cash-strapped millennial who has been talked down to by rich white guys like Giuliani her entire life, offered some money-saving tips. "Giuliani can certainly try swapping out his lobster bisque dinners for Rice Krispies, but I’m not sure it’ll make a dent...It might be more effective, I reckon, if he takes a break from marrying and divorcing. Another top financial tip is to avoid being charged with multiple crimes: lawyers are very expensive!" writes Mahdawi. But she saves her best advice for last: "If he can’t save his way out of financial ruin, Giuliani can do what conservatives like him are always telling the rest of us to do: work harder."

Lauren Southern: How my tradlife turned toxic
In 2019, the infamous, right-wing influencer Lauren Southern fully embraced patriarchal misogyny and disappeared from public life in order to live the "trad" — or traditional — life envisioned by right-wing extremists. She soon found herself in a hell of her own creation. Her husband forced her to retire from her job as a racism influencer and move with him to Australia. There, cut off from her support network, she became, in her words, “the closest thing to a modern day, Western slave." Southern describes how she was stuck with “the lawns, the house, the cooking, the baby care, his university homework." She continued, "I didn’t know anyone. I didn’t have any support. There was no help changing diapers, there was no help waking up in the night with the baby. I’d still have to get up, to make breakfast before work. I’d be shaking and nervous, for fear I’m gonna get yelled at...I was told daily that I was worthless, pathetic. Deadweight. All you do is sit around and take care of the baby and do chores.” And when COVID shut down all real-world public life, her situation became “hell on earth." It was, she said, “the only time in my life where I idealized dying.” Southern eventually was able to escape by returning home to Canada after a pair of deaths in the family and then divorcing her abusive husband from afar. Her story is a shocking glimpse into the "Handmaid's Tale" hellscape the far-right envisions for women all over the world and a reminder of just how important feminism is in protecting women and their rights.
Insurrectionist Republican brings bad behavior to Washington
Eric Wilson for Congress: Wisconsin Republican Derrick Van Orden is a bad guy, with bad behavior, and bad politics. He’s made headlines for getting drunk at work and verbally abusing his pages; threatening librarians, and even throwing profane tantrums in hearings. Oh, and he was there for Trump’s January 6th rally in DC and is a MAGA extremist to boot. It’s time to send this cranky man-child home and replace him with a responsible adult, and a progressive one at that. If you agree, then Eric Wilson is your guy. He has vowed to fight for Medicare for All and refuses to take corporate money. Van Orden has no such principles, and has amassed himself a huge $1.6 million dark money war chest. Will you chip in to elect Eric Wilson and flip this critical battleground seat blue?
